INTRODUC

It's quite impossible to walk alone around any touristic place, it's
also impossible to stop in the middle of nowhere, like in the Atlas
mountains, without being anoyed by few vendorsor other 'reel' guides.
I can surely understand the economics reasons that brings some of them to
act like this, but I hardly doubt about the efficiency of the unscrupulous
and agressive method,oftenly used.
On a daily basis, beleive me, this become simply impossible to get on with, irritating,
to the point that your pleasure of being here becomes totaly spoiled. To the
point that you become very distrustful toward anybody, and little by little
you retire yourself into your own shell.
What a paradox!
At last, I want to have a special thought for this 15 years old boy, Abdul,
a non-official guide, that I've hired for a day, at my own request, for a
tour in the Fez Medina labyrinths, and who has been arrested at the end of
the afternoon, under my eyes, by the 'touristic brigades' in charge of the
tourists tranquility, for the motive that he wasn't an 'official' guide,
thing that I perfectly knew.
If I have hired him especially, it was because we have quickly sympathized
and that he seemed to know every street of his city.
'Better give money to a kid that is making some courtesy efforts', I used
to think.
Afterwards, I have asked the witnesses of this violent arrest and have
learned that for this 'crime', Abdul will stay two months in jail, or would
have to pay a 500,00 dollars fine. Fortune that he never had, of course.
Abdul, I sincerly regret to have hired you, but today what is the value of
those remorses comparing with the jail you used to know?
I'm afraid nothing, unfortunately...
Well, this is what Morocco is, also. Don't forget it when you'll go there.
Please.
